Tottenham Hotspur have said goodbye to one of their greatest ever players after Son Heung-min completed his transfer to LAFC.
Son became the first Tottenham captain in 17 years to lead his side to silverware last season, and their Europa League final victory over Manchester United has proven to be his final ascent up the mountain.
Ange Postecoglou matching Son’s achievement to break that drought wasn’t enough for the Australian to save his job after Tottenham’s 17th-placed Premier League finish, and it’s been all change ever since.
Thomas Frank has overseen changes in North London with Mohammed Kudus and Joao Palhinha both likely to start after their respective moves to Spurs, but Son’s departure will hit harder than any other.

Son’s switch to the MLS is the most lucrative in the league’s history as LAFC add another former Spurs star to their ranks after Hugo Lloris, and news of his transfer has led to an outpouring of emotions.
The 33-year-old confirmed that he would be leaving Tottenham on 3 August after their latest pre-season friendly against Newcastle United, and that set the wheels in motion for his MLS move to be completed.

Tottenham didn’t stand in their captain’s way as a result and after his £20million move was sealed, Spurs posted on their Instagram page (6 August) to say their goodbyes after 454 appearances and 173 goals.
Mathys Tel led the tributes with a heart emoji in the comments of Tottenham’s post, which said: “The Club can confirm the permanent transfer of Heung-Min Son to LAFC.
Thank you will never be enough, Sonny.”

Football Insider Verdict
Former Spurs and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider on Tuesday that Tottenham should push the button on a move for Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho in the wake of Son’s exit.
However, the South Korean’s potential replacement could lie closer to home, with last season’s Bayern Munich loanee Tel signed up on a permanent deal for £30million at the start of this summer’s window.
Just three goals over 20 appearances in the second half of last season is a precarious start at best, but given time and a clear run to nail down a spot on the left flank, Tel could end up being the player to take up Son’s mantle.
